Advertising Agency Experience (1982-1987)
Hewitt spent five years as a B2B advertising account director with leading high tech advertising agencies including D'Arcy McManus Masius/SF and Reiser Williams DeYong/Silicon Valley. He ran business development and managed over a dozen clients with $25 million in total ad spending for breakthrough branding campaigns, including Sun Microsystems, NCR PCs, Verbatim, Xidex Magnetics, Eaton Semiconductor Equipment, National Semiconductor, The Learning Company, Advanced Electronics Design, Microrim, Priam, TriGem, and Letraset.
He led creative
teams that introduced industry-first, consumer-style campaigns for
technology products with celebrity spokespeople, TV advertising for PCs,
outdoor billboards for floppy disks, trade magazine/free-standing inserts for
semiconductors, dealer POS campaigns, and 4 color/2 page spreads for disk
drives, workstations, and DB applications. These award-winning,
demand-gen programs were all considered marketing breakthroughs in the
eighties.
